Search is on for Little Miss India SA With the Mrs India South Africa and the Miss India South Africa pageants over, the search is now on for Little Miss India SA. The show, presented by Bright Idea Projects, will be hosted on Sunday, October 30, at the Durban City Hall from 2.30pm. Contestants have to be between the ages of six and 10. The competition highlights the individual talents of the youngsters in the following segments: talent, Easternwear and a Q&A. The good news is that every participant will be walking away with a prize, which could be anything from television sets, DVD players, CD players, toys, clothing, jewellery, dance courses, computer courses to weekend getaways and more. Last year's crown was won by 10-year-old Gemma-Jade Naidoo. Pictured is Pooja Haripersadh, who is one of this year's contestants. Aside from gaining ample exposure on radio and in print media, the winner will serve as an ambassador to other youngsters and will attend elite functions as well as certain fundraisers. Miss South Africa, Thuli Sithole, recently represented South Africa at the Miss Universe pageant in Los Angeles. Allthough Thuli did not place in the top 20, she says she sure had a great time meeting all the other 85 girls with various cultures and languages. Miss Puerto Rico, 18 year old Zuleyka Rivera Mendoza won the title of Miss Universe 2006. This is the 5th Miss Universe title for Puerto Rico. Zuleyka, fainted few minutes after the crown was placed on her head. Organizers says it was due to the heat that she fainted. She was carried of stage but later joined the others at the coronation ball. Thuli says she’s glad to be back in South Africa and in a months time she will leave for Poland, where she will represent South Africa at the Miss World pageant on 30 September 2006. Call for entries for the new Miss South Africa has begun and on 9 September girls can enter at the Menlyn Shopping Center. The Miss South Africa pageant will be on 9 December 2006 at Sun City and will be broadcasted by SABC 2. Louis Fourie
